Cultural & Heritage Centre in Wiltshire

The redevelopment of this Grade II Listed Victorian town hall complex into a cultural and heritage centre

Alex Oliver Associates was appointed by Calne Town Council to prepare a scoping study and feasibility proposals to redevelop the existing Grade II Victorian town hall complex.

The proposal put forward the idea of a cultural quarter that would become a focus for heritage, the arts and visitor facilities.  The existing town hall complex will be transformed into a cultural hub that adds a craft gallery, café and exhibition space to the existing community hall facilities.  The current service yard will become a Piazza & Sculpture Square helping to overcome the spacial deficit in the within the town.

At the heart of the scheme a new glazed atrium will link the various historic buildings together, acting as a shared circulation, exhibition and cafe space.
